Hello hello Natural hair enthusiasts! Your ethnic haircare lady is back with another post. I am very aware that special occasions are very stressful for kinky-coilies like me, we always wonder what we are going to do to look pretty despite our unruly hair of African descent.

The Graduation Cap influences how we style our hair a lot, We also worry about tight protective hairstyles

If you read my blogs , you will know that even as a bride I can still rock my 4c strands with minimal manipulation and still fro-slay.

For my graduation ceremony, I would say things worked well that I was travelling the Friday before the Saturday of the graduation ceremony. Therefore I had to collect my outfit on the Saturday morning of the graduation ceremony, I was lucky to be able to do my hairstyle before turning up at the Graduation Offices.

I sectioned the front of my hair for a fringe, then tied the back of the hair into a low bun, bearing in mind that the cap needed room in the mid-section of my head. The low-bun was extended with a piece of synthetic kinky-braid and secured it with bobby-pins.I then flat twisted the front hair to the side. I wrapped the hairstyle overnight for products to set and the coils to lay down neatly.

In the morning I unraveled the twists. The flat-twistout was still acceptable even though I would have loved for it to be a little bit more defined. I was then ready to leave for the Graduation offices to try-on a suitable cap.

The cue was clear and I had all the time to myself to try-on different cap sizes until a firm hold was achieved. My friends were ready with Cameras to capture the moments.

My hairstyle was simple, the cap did fit well and I felt amazing in it. It was a low manipulation style and that is what makes a natural hair enthusiast happy, just the thought of knowing that your hair is not in trouble with the hairstyle you chose, is so relaxing.
